First Orange Technology Exhibition in Taiwan Held at NCKU on September 3rd

National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), Tainan, Taiwan, has organized the
first 2010 Orange Technology Exhibition on September 3rd in
Department of Electrical Engineering, Tzu-Chiang Campus, hoping to
promote the market of global human care technology.
“Even though Orange Technology is currently at the
promotion stage, NCKU will devote more resources to promote the
technology and even help to push it to the national research center
level. We expect to see excellent results soon.”
During the Exhibition, National Cheng Kung University, Tainan City
Government and Inventec Corporation have together signed a letter of
intent and announced to jointly develop smart living technologies,
promising a smart city of health and happiness.
In the future, Tainan City Government will provide space, integrate the
software and hardware technologies of National Cheng Kung University and
Inventec Corporation, and apply to participate in the Smart Living
Technology Project of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
In addition to Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang of Department of Electrical
Engineering at National Cheng Kung University, the pioneer of Orange
Technology, Tainan City Government and Inventec Corporation, who have
shown support and provided assistance to the Exhibition, other academic
institutions, such as National Cheng Kung University Hospital,
Industrial Technology Research Institute, National Science and
Technology Museum, Institute for Information Industry, Southern Taiwan
University and Kun Shan University, and industrial organizations, such
as Guider Technology and Alchemy Technology, have also responded to the
event.
In the opening ceremony, NCKU Senior Executive Vice-President
Hwung-Hweng Hwung praised Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang to be a wise man and a
prophet, Old age is an issue that everyone will face. Prof. Wang has
realized that a person must live a dignified life during the process of
aging and has developed a new concept which takes account of the
physical, psychological and living aspects of the elders, hoping to
provide a complete and thoughtful care.
Senior Executive Vice-President Hwung-Hweng Hwung also mentioned, NCKU
is extremely pleased to see that Prof. Wang has not only developed new
research knowledge, but also put in great efforts to promote the
well-being of human society.
He promised, Even though Orange Technology is currently at the
promotion stage, NCKU will devote more resources to promote the
technology and even help to push it to the national research center
level. We expect to see excellent results soon.
Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang said, The promotion of Orange Technology is not
only physiological, but also psychological. NCKU Campus has been
continuously organizing events of social caring. This is the development
of the spirit of Orange Technology. In the future, the promotion and
development of Orange Technology will originate from academia and
progress toward the industry.
Prof. Jhing-Fa Wang further explained, The purpose of the signing
between National Cheng Kung University, Tainan City Government and
Inventec Corporation is to establish an Orange City. I believe issues of
humanity, like environmental issues, should be world issues, and I hope
the concept of Orange Technology, starting from National Cheng Kung
University, can spread to Taiwan, and even Asia and the world.
Major Tain-Tsair Hsu of Tainan revealed, Orange Technology symbolizes
health, happiness and care, the three fields that Tainan City Government
is promoting. A city of health includes the health of human body, the
health of the environment and the health of society. Orange Technology
is extremely helpful to the aspects of humanities and human health. With
the promotion of Orange Technology, we hope to transform Tainan into a
city of health and also the chief city of Orange Technology.
The first Orange Technology Exhibition, initiated by National Cheng Kung
University with the joint efforts of NCKU Hospital and Tainan City
Government, was held from September 3rd to September 5th,
showing more than 50 orange technology items from the industries and
academia in Taiwan, and organizing five topic forums, three lectures and
more than ten scientific and technological achievements display units.
By combining product displays with forums and lectures, the purpose of
the Exhibition is to integrate domestic care products industries to
provide Orange Technology, Orange Industry, Orange Economy and Orange
Service to improve humans well-being and health care and to promote the
market of global human care technology.
